Translations Using CAT Tools

Do you require fast translations and, at the same time, a guarantee of terminological consistency while taking your previously translated documents into account? Choose our CAT tool translations!

Professional translations with a wide range of applications

A CAT tool is translation software that allows the translator to save translated segments and use them when translating other segments.

In this way, the CAT tool streamlines the translation process, reduces processing time, lowers costs and, above all, increases quality – the resulting documents are not only consistent within the given project, but also with previously completed translations thanks to the translation memory.

CAT tools thus help us prepare high quality translations while effectively adhering to the established terminology in your business area.

What are the benefits of CAT tool translations?

  • Possibility of significant cost savings for you
  • Reduction of total processing time
  • Possibility of processing even non-standard formats (e.g. web formats such as HTML, JSON, PO, and graphic formats such as IDML, INDD, etc.)
  • Creation of your specific translation memory
  • For regular/recurring projects, professional management of your translation memory, including updates
  • If necessary, the possibility of exporting the latest version of your translation memory
  • Possibility of creating a terminological dictionary according to your needs and industry specifics
  • Terminological consistency across translated texts
  • Sophisticated quality control of the resulting translation (QA)
  • Ideal solution for corporate, express and bulk orders

CAT translation process

Source file

We prepare your file for import into the translation software.

Selection of the most suitable translator

The translation is carried out by a specialist with excellent knowledge of the source language and the corresponding expertise. Of course, the translator will be highly proficient with the selected CAT tool.

Translation memory

Before starting the translation, we either create a translation memory or review your existing one.

Reference materials

During the translation process, the translator researches additional information and additional materials needed to properly understand the source text and correctly translate it into the target language. If you do not yet have your own terminological dictionary, we will help you create it. If a terminological dictionary exists, the translator will use it as needed

Delivery of the translation

Based on the previous steps, the translator produces a grammatically error-free and terminologically and stylistically consistent translation. We will deliver the translation to you in the same format and formatting (including preserving images, web links, etc.) in which we received the source text from you.

Frequently Asked Questions

A CAT (computer-aided translation) tool is a computer program that helps translators streamline the translation process. The essential components of these translation tools are a translation memory, a glossary of terms and a quality assurance module. Thanks to these elements, translations using a CAT tool are cheaper, faster and, above all, terminologically and stylistically consistent for regular orders. CAT tools also enable the translation of formats that would otherwise be difficult to translate efficiently (e.g. web or graphic formats).
A translation memory is a database of segment pairs in the form of “source–translation”. The translator actively works with the translation memory; they can use older segments to translate new segments, constantly updating and enriching the memory. If a particular segment repeatedly appears in the text, the translation memory will offer the translator the last used translation. If a similar segment appears in the text, a partial translation is offered that can then be adapted or completed.
Yes – if you provide us with sources and translations in a suitable format, we can create a translation memory for you from this material for the purposes of our future collaboration.
Each field of human activity has its own terminology, and it is important to adhere to this when translating into other languages. While the translation memory stores segments of sentences, a terminological database stores a list of terms (words or phrases) and their translated counterparts. If you do not already have preferred translations of your technical terms available, we will be happy to create a dictionary for you together with our translator – and upon your approval we will then use it in your projects. This “dictionary” can also be updated at any time during our collaboration. Thanks to the individualised, customised terminological dictionaries that we create and manage for you as part of regular translations, we are able to guarantee the terminological consistency of your translations.
In general, non-editable source documents cannot be processed using a CAT tool: PDF files that cannot be edited (e.g. scans of documents), JPEG and other image formats (photographed text, etc.).
QA is a module of every CAT tool that automatically searches for any discrepancies between the source and the translation. As part of output control, a CAT tool allows us to handle the proper conversion of numbers into the translated text, the correct use of the target punctuation and, above all, to identify any inconsistencies in repeated segments or translations of terms with respect to the attached terminology database. Thus, we can be certain that the result will be a document that is of high quality from every point of view.
