English – Upper Intermediate

An intermediate student understands the main features of information about familiar topics if they are expressed in a clear and standard manner. The student is able to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. The student is able to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and desires and concisely explain his/her opinions and plans.

Cambridge English: Preliminary

  • general English exam at level B1;
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 380 hours;
  • the exam includes:
    • reading and writing (90 minutes);
    • listening (40 minutes);
    • oral testing (10-12 minutes, conducted with two candidates at once).

Cambridge English: Preliminary for Schools

  • general English exam for children from ages 11 to 14 at level B1;
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 380 hours;
  • the exam includes:
    • reading and writing (90 minutes);
    • listening (40 minutes);
    • oral testing (10-12 minutes, conducted with two candidates at once).

Cambridge English: Business Preliminary

  • Also known as Business English Certificate (BEC)
    • this exam tests knowledge of business English at level B1;
    • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 400 hours of instruction focused on business language;
    • the exam includes:
      • reading and writing (90 minutes);
      • listening (40 minutes);
      • oral testing (12 minutes, conducted with two candidates at once).

STANAG 6001 1

  • Standardization Agreement 6001 level 1
    • Intermediate level exam designed to test language skills of employees of NATO and the Czech Army;
    • assessment of four skills in the order of listening, speaking, reading, writing;
    • the exam includes:
      • listening (40 minutes);
      • reading (45 minutes);
      • writing (30 minutes);
      • oral testing (15 minutes, conducted with each candidate individually).

BULATS

  • this exam tests knowledge of business English, in which the level of proficiency is determined according to a point score;
  • for level B1, the candidate must achieve 40-59 points out of 100;
  • testing and evaluation system for companies and organisations;
  • 4 options for the exam: computer test, standard test, spoken language test and written language test.

JASPEX 300

Language and professional preparation for experts

  • this exam tests knowledge of English for experts at level B1;
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 400 hours;
  • the exam includes a written test and an oral test.

SEFIC Level 2

  • oral exam testing knowledge of business English at level B1;
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 400 hours of instruction focused on business language;
  • the exam takes 30 minutes in total and is conducted with each candidate separately.

EFB Level 1

  • this exam tests knowledge of business English at level A2–B1;
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 400 hours of instruction focused on business language;
  • listening and oral test are not mandatory requirements of the exam;
  • the exam includes:
    • reading and writing (120 minutes);
    • listening (30 minutes);
    • oral testing (12 minutes, conducted with one candidate).

telc English B1

  • general English exam at level B1;
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 400-450 hours;
  • the telc English B1 School exam is available for pupils;
  • the exam includes:
    • reading + vocabulary and grammar (90 minutes);
    • listening (30 minutes);
    • writing (30 minutes);
    • oral testing (15 minutes, usually conducted together with another candidate)

telc English B1 Business

  • this exam tests knowledge of business English at level B1;
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 400-450 hours of instruction focused on business language;
  • the exam includes:
    • reading + vocabulary and grammar (90 minutes);
    • listening (30 minutes);
    • writing (30 minutes);
    • oral testing (15 minutes, usually conducted together with another candidate)

telc English B1 Hotel and Restaurant

  • this exam tests knowledge of professional English (hotel industry, hospitality, gastronomy) at level B1;
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 400-450 hours;
  • the exam includes:
    • reading + vocabulary and grammar (90 minutes);
    • listening (30 minutes);
    • writing (30 minutes);
    • oral testing (15 minutes, usually conducted together with another candidate).

ECL B1

  • general English exam at level B1;
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 400 hours;
  • the exam includes:
    • reading (35 minutes);
    • writing (50 minutes);
    • listening (30 minutes);
    • oral testing (based on level 13-21 minutes, conducted with two candidates).

TOEIC® Listening and Reading

  • this exam tests the ability to communicate in an international work environment;
  • level is determined according to a point score from A1-C1;
  • listening test (approx. 45 minutes), reading test (75 minutes);
  • validity of the test result is 2 years.

TOEIC® Speaking and Writing

  • this exam tests the ability to communicate in an international work environment;
  • level is determined according to a point score from A1-C1,
  • writing test (60 minutes) and oral test (20 minutes);
  • validity of the test result is 2 years.

TOEIC BridgeTM

  • general English exam for lower levels of proficiency;
  • level is determined according to a point score from A1-B1;
  • listening test (25 minutes) and reading test (35 minutes);
  • validity of the test result is 2 years.

TOEFL®

  • general English exam for candidates at level B1 and higher, in which the level of proficiency is determined by a point score;
  • the candidate must achieve 57-86 points for level B1;
  • validity of the test result is 2 years;
  • a computer test (iBT – Internet Based Test) is used in the Czech Republic; the test takes a total of 240 minutes and includes:
    • listening (60-90 minutes);
    • reading (60-80 minutes);
    • writing (50 minutes);
    • speaking (20 minutes).

IELTS – 3.5.-4.5

  • general English exam at level A2 and higher, in which the level of proficiency is determined by a point score;
  • the candidate must achieve 3.5-4.5 points for level B1;
  • candidates can choose between the Academic or General module,
  • the exam includes:
    • listening (30 minutes);
    • reading (60 minutes);
    • writing (60 minutes);
    • oral testing (11-14 minutes).

LanguageCert ESOL – Achiever B1

  • general English exam at level B1 (formerly from the City & Guilds series);
  • the exam focuses on the practical use of language in authentic situations;
  • the written and oral tests of the exam can be taken separately;
  • the exam includes:
    • listening (30 minutes);
    • reading and writing (130 minutes);
    • oral testing (12 minutes).
