Translations Using CAT Tools

Do you require fast translations as well as a guarantee of terminological consistency with your previously translated documents? Choose our CAT tool translations!

Professional translations for a wide range of corporate clients

A CAT tool is a translation software that allows the translator to store translated segments and use them when translating other segments.

In this way, the CAT tool streamlines the translation process, reduces processing times, lowers costs and, above all, improves the quality of the final product – the resulting documents are not only consistent within the given project, but also with previously completed translations thanks to the translation memory database.

CAT tools thus help us create high quality translations while being consistent with the specified terminology in your field of business.

What are the benefits of CAT tool translations?

  • significant cost savings for you
  • reduction of total processing time
  • possibility of processing even non-standard formats (e.g., web formats such as HTML, JSON, PO, and graphic formats such as IDML, INDD, etc.)
  • creation of your own translation memory
  • for regular/recurring projects, professional management of your translation memory, including updates
  • if necessary, the possibility of generating the latest version of your translation memory
  • possibility of creating a terminological dictionary based on your needs and industry specifics
  • terminological consistency across translated texts
  • sophisticated Quality Assurance (QA) of the resulting translation
  • an ideal solution for corporate, express and bulk orders

CAT translation process

Source file

After an initial check, we import your file into the translation interface.

Selection of the most suitable translator

The translation is performed by a specialist with an excellent knowledge of the source language who applies their expertise in the field during the translation process. Of course, the translator will be highly proficient with the selected CAT tool.

Translation memory

Before starting the translation, we will set up a new translation memory for you which will also be used for our future cooperation, or we will check your existing translation memory that will be used for the project.

Reference materials

During the translation process, the translator looks for additional information and documents needed to properly understand the source text and to appropriately translate it into the target language. If you do not yet have your own terminological dictionary, we will help you create one. If a terminological dictionary exists, the translator will use it during their work.

Processing your translation

Based on the previous steps, the translator produces a grammatically correct and terminologically as well as stylistically consistent translation. After the final inspection and export, we will deliver the translation to you in the same format and formatting (preserving images, web links, etc.) in which we received the original source text.

Frequently Asked Questions

A CAT (computer-aided translation) tool is a computer program that helps translators streamline the translation process. The essential components of these translation tools are a translation memory, a glossary of terms and a Quality Assurance module. Thanks to these elements, translations using the CAT tool are cheaper, processed faster and, above all, terminologically and stylistically consistent for regular orders. Last but not least, CAT tools enable the translation of formats that could not otherwise be efficiently translated (e.g. web or graphic formats).
A translation memory is a database of segment pairs in the form of “source–translation”. The translator actively works with the translation memory; they can use older segments to translate new segments, constantly updating and expanding the memory. If a particular segment repeatedly appears in the text, the translation memory will offer the translator the last used translation. If a similar segment appears in the text, a partial translation is offered that can then be simply inserted.
Yes, if you provide us with documents and translations in a suitable format, we can use these to create a translation memory for you that can be used for your projects with us.
Each field of human activity has its own terminology, and it is important to adhere to this when translating into other languages. While the translation memory stores segments of sentences, a terminological database is a list of terms (words or phrases) and their translated counterparts. If you do not have preferred translations for technical terms yet, we will be happy to create a dictionary for you together with our translator – and to use it in our joint projects after your approval. This dictionary can also be updated at any time during our cooperation. Thanks to the individualised, customised terminological dictionaries that we create and manage for you as part of regularly assigned translations, we are able to guarantee the terminological consistency of your translations.
In general, non-editable source documents cannot be processed using a CAT tool: Non-editable PDF files (e.g., scans of documents), JPEG and other image formats (captured text, etc.).
QA is a module of every CAT tool that automatically searches for any discrepancies between the source and the translation. As part of a final check, the CAT tool allows us to, for example, ensure the proper conversion of numbers into the translated text, the correct use of target punctuation and, above all, to identify possible inconsistencies across repeated segments or for translations of terms provided by the attached terminology database. The resulting translations will therefore be of the highest quality on all levels.
