French – Upper Intermediate

An upper intermediate student understands the main features of information about familiar topics if they are expressed in a clear and standard manner. The student is able to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. The student is able to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and desires and concisely explain his/her opinions and plans.

DELF B1

  • general French exam at level B1
  • number of instruction hours 360-400
  • the exam includes listening, reading, writing and oral testing
  • all four parts of the exam are scored, with a maximum of 25 points to be obtained from each
  • the candidate must receive at least 50 points out of 100 in order to pass the exam

DELF Junior B1

  • general French exam at level B1 for youth
  • general French exam for students in the senior years of primary and secondary schools from the age of 12 up to the school-leaving examination
  • number of instruction hours 360-400
  • the exam includes listening, reading, writing, oral testing
  • all four parts of the exam are scored, with a maximum of 25 points to be obtained from each
  • the candidate must receive at least 50 points out of 100 in order to pass the exam

ECL B1

  • general French exam at level B1
  • the exam includes:
    • reading (35 minutes)
    • writing (50 minutes)
    • listening (25-30 minutes)
    • oral testing (based on level 13-21 minutes, conducted with two candidates)

TCF

  • general French exam, in which the level of proficiency is determined by a point score
  • the candidate must achieve 300-399 points for level B1
  • the exam includes three compulsory and two optional parts
  • the compulsory part lasts a total of 1 hour 25 minutes:
    • listening (25 minutes)
    • use of language (15 minutes)
    • reading (45 minutes)
  • optional part
    • speaking (12 minutes)
    • writing (60 minutes)

TCF RI

  • this exam tests the ability to communicate in the field of international relations and diplomacy
  • this exam makes it possible to obtain certification from level A1 to C2
  • 300-399 points are required for level B1
  • the exam includes three compulsory and two optional parts
  • the compulsory part lasts a total of 1 hour 30 minutes:
    • listening
    • use of the language
    • reading
  • optional part
    • speaking (15 minutes)
    • writing (1 hour 45 minutes)

STANAG 6001 2

Standardization Agreement 6001 level 2

  • intermediate level exam designed to test language skills of employees of NATO and the Czech Army
  • assessment of four skills in the order of listening, speaking, reading, writing
  • the exam includes:
    • listening (45 minutes)
    • reading (45 minutes)
    • writing (30 minutes)
    • oral testing (15 minutes, conducted with one candidate)

TEF

  • general French exam, in which the level of proficiency is determined by a point score
  • the candidate must achieve 361-540 points for level B1
  • the exam includes one compulsory and two optional parts
  • the written part takes 130 minutes in total:
    • listening (40 minutes)
    • use of language (30 minutes)
    • reading (60 minutes)
  • optional part
    • speaking (35 minutes)
    • writing (60 minutes)

DFP B1

  • this exam tests the ability to communicate in a work environment at level B1
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 250-300 hours
  • the exam includes:
    • reading and writing (90 minutes)
    • listening (45 minutes)
    • oral testing (30 minutes)

DFP Scientifique & Technique B1

  • this exam tests knowledge of technical French at level B1+
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: about 360 hours, of which at least 120 hours are focused on specialized language
  • the exam includes:
    • written exam (listening, reading with comprehension and writing)
    • oral test

DFP Tourisme et hôtellerie B1

  • this exam tests knowledge of French focused on tourism at level B1+
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: about 360 hours, of which at least 120 hours are focused on specialized language
  • the exam includes:
    • written exam (listening, reading with comprehension and writing)
    • oral test

DFP Secrétariat B1

  • this exam tests knowledge of French focused on administration at level B1+
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: about 360 hours, of which at least 120 hours are focused on specialized language
  • the exam includes:
    • written exam (listening, reading with comprehension and writing)
    • oral test

telc Français B1

  • general French exam at level B1
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 350 hours
  • the exam includes:
    • reading + language structure (90 minutes)
    • listening (30 minutes)
    • writing (30 minutes)
    • oral testing (10 minutes, usually conducted with two candidates)

telc Français B1 Ecole

  • general French exam for children and youth from age 14 to 17 at level B1
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 350 hours
  • the exam includes:
    • reading + language structure (90 minutes)
    • listening (30 minutes)
    • writing (30 minutes)
    • oral testing (10 minutes, usually conducted with two candidates)

telc Français B1 pour la Profession

  • this exam tests knowledge of professional French at level B1+
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 350 hours of instruction focused on the language of work practice
  • the exam includes:
    • listening (30 minutes)
    • reading and use of language (90 minutes)
    • writing (30 minutes)
    • oral testing (15 minutes, usually conducted with two candidates)

TFI

  • this exam tests knowledge of French for work practice, in which progress is determined by a point score
  • the candidate must obtain at least 160 points from the listening part and 185 points from the reading for level B1
