Level description and overview of language exams

French level B2

  • He/she understands the main ideas of difficult texts both with specific and abstract ideas, including expert discussions about areas of specialisation.
  • He/she can understand fluently and spontaneously enough that he can satisfactorily conduct regular dialogue with native speakers without greater effort on both sides.
  • He/she can formulate a clear detailed text about a wide range of topics, explain a position regarding particular issues and state the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

French language exams for level B2

DELF B2

  • general French exam at level B2
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 560-650 hours
  • the exam includes:
    • listening
    • reading
    • writing
    • oral testing
  • all four parts of the exam are scored, with a maximum of 25 points to be obtained from each
  • the candidate must receive at least 50 points out of 100 in order to pass the exam

DELF Junior B2

  • general French exam at level B2 for youth
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 560-650 hours
  • the exam includes:
    • listening
    • reading
    • writing
    • oral testing
  • all four parts of the exam are scored, with a maximum of 25 points to be obtained from each
  • the candidate must receive at least 50 points out of 100 in order to pass the exam

ECL B2

  • general French exam at level B2
  • the exam includes:
    • reading (35 minutes)
    • writing (75 minutes)
    • listening (30-35 minutes)
  • oral testing (based on level 13-21 minutes, conducted with two candidates)

TCF

  • general French exam, in which the level of proficiency is determined by a point score
  • the candidate must achieve 400-499 points for level B2
  • the exam includes three compulsory and two optional parts
  • the compulsory part lasts a total of 1 hour 25 minutes:
    • listening (25 minutes)
    • use of language (15 minutes)
    • reading (45 minutes)
    • optional part
    • speaking (12 minutes)
    • writing (60 minutes)

TCF RI

  • this exam tests the ability to communicate in the field of international relations and diplomacy
  • this exam makes it possible to obtain certification from level A1 to C2
  • 300-399 points are required for level B1
  • the exam includes three compulsory and two optional parts
  • the compulsory part lasts a total of 1 hour 30 minutes:
    • listening
    • use of the language
    • reading
  • optional part
    • speaking (15 minutes)
    • writing (1 hour 45 minutes)

STANAG 6001 2

Standardization Agreement 6001 level 2

  • intermediate level exam designed to test language skills of employees of NATO and the Czech Army
  • assessment of four skills in the order of listening, speaking, reading, writing
  • the exam includes:
    • listening (45 minutes)
    • reading (45 minutes)
    • writing (30 minutes)
    • oral testing (15 minutes, conducted with one candidate)

TEF

  • general French exam, in which the level of proficiency is determined by a point score
  • the candidate must achieve 541-698 points for level B2
  • the exam includes one compulsory and two optional parts
  • the written part takes 130 minutes in total:
    • listening (40 minutes)
    • use of language (30 minutes)
    • reading (60 minutes)
  • optional part
    • speaking (35 minutes)
    • writing (60 minutes)

DFP Médical B2

  • this exam tests knowledge of medical French at level B2;
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 560-650 hours of instruction focused on medical language;
  • the exam includes:
    • reading and understanding medical language (60 minutes)
    • reading + writing (60 minutes)
    • listening (45 minutes)
    • oral testing (30 minutes)

DFP Juridique B2

  • this exam tests knowledge of legal French at level B2
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 450-500 hours of instruction focused on legal language
  • the exam includes:
    • reading + writing (120 minutes)
    • listening (45 minutes)
    • oral testing (30 minutes)

DFP Affaires B2

  • this exam tests knowledge of business French at level B2
  • the exam includes:
    • oral test (15 minutes)
    • written test (approximately 2 hours)

DFP Secrétariat B2

  • this exam tests knowledge of French focused on administration at level B2
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: about 560-650 hours, of which at least 200 hours are focused on specialized language
  • the exam includes:
    • written exam (listening, reading with comprehension and writing)
    • oral test

telc Français B2

  • general French exam at level B2
  • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 560-650 hours
  • the exam includes:
    • reading + language structure (90 minutes)
    • listening (20 minutes)
    • writing (30 minutes)
    • oral testing (15 minutes, usually conducted with two candidates)

TFI

  • this exam tests knowledge of French for work practice, in which progress is determined by a point score
  • the candidate must obtain at least 300 points from the listening part and 305 points from the reading for level B2
  • the exam is written only – it consists of 180 questions and tests the comprehension of read and heard texts
  • the exam takes a total of 110 minutes

State Language Exam Basic

  • general French exam at level B2
    • minimum number of completed instruction hours: approximately 500 hours
    • the exam is organized by language schools with accreditation for state language examinations throughout the Czech Republic
    • the exam includes:
      • written part (240 minutes: reading, writing, listening and use of the language – grammatical and lexical structures)
      • oral test (15-20 minutes)
